The 8th edition of the ECFD will bring together academic and industrial researchers from the CFD community affiliated with several massively parallel fluid mechanics codes to pool their expertise and build the high-performance tools of tomorrow.
Their objective? To evolve in the medium term both the physical models integrated into the codes and the numerical methodologies to address the technical and scientific challenges already apparent on modern hybrid supercomputers with accelerated resources. A major impact of the developments expected during this event is to support and contribute to the Energy Transition.
For 11 days, 85 researchers and engineers, accompanied by IT experts, will participate in:
- a workshop on 6 different themes (Combustion, Multiphase Flows, Turbulent Flows, Numerical Methods, Dynamic Mesh Adaptation, User Experience).
- a hackathon centered around several high-performance codes and platforms: AVBP, ParaDiGM, SONICS, and YALES2. The objective will be to support application owners in continuing the efforts already undertaken in the evolution of their code to take advantage of GENCI’s hybrid CPU-GPU machines.
- plenary sessions and hands-on workshops on various topics related to high-performance CFD.
This event is supported by GENCI, SAFRAN, ARIANE GROUP, ONERA, GENERAL ELECTRIC VERNOVA, and LEGI (ANR NETHUNS chair), SIEMENS ENERGY, CORIA, and IMAG. For the hackathon, CINES and AMD will provide their knowledge and expertise by making their experts in porting and optimization of scientific applications available.
