VIBRA – Virtual Braiding

GDTech is coordinator of the VIBRA project (Grant Agreement n°8422) awarded by the SKYWIN cluster, with the support of Wallonia.

The project is about braiding process and braid-reinforced composite materials.

Our research partners:

Project Objective

The project aims to leverage modeling and simulation to support the manufacturing of braided composite materials and accurately predict their as-built mechanical properties. It also provides an opportunity to investigate the performance of TENRON® fibers and compare their mechanical behavior with that of conventional carbon fibers.

GDTech's Contribution

  • Manufacturing process simulation
  • Prediction (with virtual testing) of the mechanical performance of braided composites
  • Modeling and solution of industrial use cases
